Managing multiple social media platforms means dealing with different banner dimensions for each. Learn how to create one master design and split it efficiently for all platforms.

The Multi-Platform Challenge

Every social platform has different header/banner requirements:

PlatformBanner Size
Facebook Cover820 x 312 px
Twitter Header1500 x 500 px
LinkedIn Banner1584 x 396 px
YouTube Channel2560 x 1440 px
Twitch1920 x 480 px

Creating separate designs for each is time-consuming and can lead to inconsistent branding.

The Master Design Solution

Create one large master design that contains all the visual elements you need, then split and crop for each platform.

Master Canvas Size

Design at the largest required dimensions:

  • Recommended: 2560 x 1440 pixels (YouTube size)
  • This accommodates all smaller platform sizes

Safe Zone Design

Place critical elements (logo, text, CTA) in the center where they'll be visible regardless of cropping.

Creating Your Master Banner

Step 1: Set Up the Canvas

Create your design canvas at 2560 x 1440 pixels.

Step 2: Define Safe Zones

Mark these areas:

  • Absolute safe zone: Center 820 x 312 pixels
  • Extended safe zone: Center 1500 x 500 pixels
  • Decorative area: Outer regions

Step 3: Design in Layers

Structure your design:

  1. Background layer (extends to edges)
  2. Decorative elements (can be cropped)
  3. Core branding (safe zone only)
  4. Text and CTAs (absolute safe zone)

Step 4: Export and Split

Use Image Splitter Online or manual cropping to extract each platform's banner.
